Almost 3 years later and…

We are now on the waiting list for baby number 2. We are so very excited to find out who he/she is! We are using the same agency we used before, Dillon International, Inc. We started this journey over a year ago with our initial application as soon as they reopened the Korea program. When they reopened the program they decided to no longer allow you to choose gender. When we were told this, we decided to check around other agencies and see if they would allow us to choose, thinking Mike’s Korean heritage would help. We were told the same thing from every agency we talked to. So, after much soul searching and grieving not being able to choose a girl, we went back to our original agency. Our agency let us put a preference of girl, but MUST be open to either gender. Even though I really want a girl, we have faith that we will get the child we were meant to have, regardless of gender. Our God knows so much more than we do, and he has a plan for us. He knew the plan back before we began our first journey to Ryan. I trust he will provide the child that belongs to us.

We turned in our second application in December, started our homestudy in January and was put on the wait list March 3. We got our fingerprinting date for USCIS but missed the appt due to Ryan being ill. We hope to go this Wednesday to make up our fingerprints. I do not want to wait for them to reschedule the date and possibly get a referral while we are waiting for them to approve our I-600A. When you do things out of order, our government gets confused!! The earliest we’ll get a referral is May, the latest being December. Our agency quoted 6-9 months, however, referrals are coming in around 4 months for non-korean american families…so ours could be in 2. GO GO GO!

We will keep everyone informed of our journey through this blog. Our heartfelt apologies for neglecting it once Ryan came home. I am not one for writing novels ( I would MUCH rather talk on the phone!) so I felt our photo blog was adequate enough. Pray we get a speedy referral and a healthy child.

I’m FINALLY getting a chance to post a comment! Can’t wait to see you post that you have a referral and then follow your trip to Seoul.

Thanks so much for pointing me to your blog. I so want to keep track of everyone else that is also waiting for baby. I also know what you mean about choosing gender and how that was frustrating. We really don’t care (we have a boy and a girl) but I just have a vision of what I think it is and it is hard not stating it and knowing what gender the baby will be. I, too, know and trust fully that God will provide OUR child..it’s just so amazing to think about all that. It looks like you guys will probably receive baby before us…so we will SO look forward to hearing all about it.
